Photo exhibition



Hi guys. I'm sure there's only a small percentage of you that are interested - and an even smaller percentage that could actually attend - but I figured I'd let you know that I'm going to have my own photo exhibition in Stockholm, Sweden in September.

It will be called Asian Anecdotes. "Asian" since the pictures feature Asian people and things (in Japan, China, Vietnam, Canada and the US) and "Anecdotes" since the pictures will be accompanied by short stories about the subject and/or the moment the picture was taken. Hopefully it'll be a bit more entertaining and less pretentious than most photo exhibitions, where people often mull over abstract pieces called "Untitled".

When?

Sep 18th - Oct 1st, 2009.

Those of you who are willing and able; you're very welcome to show up. For those of you who are willing but not able, I'll try to take some photos of the photo exhibit...and then exhibit those photos on here.

Thank you! Have you had any exhibitions yet? I can totally envision your work in a nice gallery, with big shots mingling and eating peanuts with their champaign... You definitely deserve a chance.

Thank you! They're not thought out in the sense that I've arranged them (they've all been snapped spontaneously as they happened to occur) but I'm glad you like the thought behind them. That's a very nice compliment. smile

Thanks!! "Contemplative atmosphere" is a nice and accurate description, I think. I've noticed that about them too. I like that kind of atmosphere and probably subconsciously shoot them that way. I should shoot some happy ones too just to mix it up, lol.

No, I didn't think you had arranged or posed them. But you obviously give lots of thought to the perfect composition for that particular image. I LOVE the one with the little guy and the big guy on the bench.

Thanks again! It's pretty funny, isn't it? Their expressions, the little cup with pink shaved ice that the sumo wrestler is eating. The suit/bandana combo... It did speak a lot to me, so I had to snap it even though a friend was pulling my shirt because she thought I was being too forward, lol. That's the problem with photography actually; you kind of have to invade people's privacy if you ever want to get a good shot.

No, no exhibition yet confused Once I graduated I let myself get side tracked by kids and work...but I haven't given up, I have rolls of film and digital shots that I've taken but I need to be sorted nod

Prioritize them before it gets too late. After a while they will start to feel old and then you will lose your enthusiasm over them (that's already started to happen to me with these pics, and they were shot just a couple of years ago). On the other hand, you could always shoot new ones.
