Severe Sleep Apnea

I stayed overnight for a sleep study last night & my doc just called with results. I stopped breathing 95 times in 1 hour

My dad has really bad sleep apnea too! I remember as a child his snoring seemed like it would make the house shake, and he'd wake up choking sometimes sad

I really wish he'd get it treated, but he's a bit in denial about it

I have no idea if I snore or not, but if I do I hope I find out so I can get it treated.

Kudos to you for going to a doctor clapping

I stayed the night with a guy one time and I didn't sleep the entire night because he would stop breathing completely and I thought he would die!

I have sleep apnea as well. In my sleep study, I stopped breathing 60-65 times.

Thanks I have 3-yr twin boys whom I have 2 be here for as well as my wife. Putting it off was going to end up with either death or me killing someone by falling asleep at the helm of a 29 ton streetcar!!!!

omfg What did they do to help treat it? I have sleep apnea too. If I lay on my back, I stop breathing. Then I struggle to breathe. It's awful. I would do the sleep study thing, but I don't sleep well when I'm not in my own bed. So the test would probably not be conclusive. lol

My son had severe sleep apnea when he was a little boy (that's him pictured in my avatar, with a Prince costume on biggrin ). For many years it scared me to death, the doctors finally recommended surgery. He had surgery when he was 4 years old, they removed all of his adenoids (spell?) and tonsils, and he has never had the problem again.

my tonsillectomy and shrinking of the interior walls of my nose helped my sleep apnea, but I never went for my post op sleep study due to losing insurance. I'm sure I probably still need a cpap, but again....no insurance.

sigh

just smile dear, make them thankful for every breath.

I'm on a CPAP machine.

I've always wanted to start this thread but never have. I've got apnea and should probably get a study done. I really don't wanna wear a cpap all night - I wonder if losing some weight would help..

Is sleep apnea always accompanied by loud snoring? I know some folk who breath so shallowly in their sleep, I could swear they're going to stop altogether.

I'm up and reading the Org right now, in part because of your sleep apnea.

falloff

It can be really scary sleeping next to a partner who has it. Sometimes it sounds like he's choking, and I want to wake him up. The way it sounds sometimes, it seems as if there's no way he's getting enough air. Tonight I laid awake, unable to go back to sleep because it makes me so nervous. But he also has terrible insomnia, so when he does actually sleep I'm afraid to wake him up because it might be the only sleep he's had all week. nuts
