If my memory serves me correctly (and it does) you posted pictures of your white daughters mocking black persons in the form of wearing blackface and even posted that you thought it was funny.....

What's next - naming kids after beauty/health care products? You know it's coming. Some fool will name her daughter Noxema or some shit like that.

lol I feel certain there are Thai girls nicknamed 'Nivea'. And if you know Thai peeps you know that nicknames are used instead of actual given names 99% of the time, so they basically are their names.

My wife is called 'Neng', meaning bald, and my brother in law is called 'Uan', meaning fat. lol

I've taught students called Big, Off, Game, Golf, Benz (after the car - there are probably kids called Lexus too), Fisho (after a squid snack) Radar, Poo, Pun, and for real names there's unfortunate stuff like Wanvisa and Kittyporn.

i hope not too! my husband is from brazil, and his name and many of the names from his country sound odd and make people laugh here in the USA, but in brazil it's 100% normal and common names. confused

yep, what's not normal in the u.s might be normal somewhere else.

exactly,my husband's name is "everton", his mom's name is "lenilsia", his grandma's name is "lairse", and has cousins named "queti", "eliel", "romario", "suelly", "bruna", "nelcy" etc, etc...but those aren't the MOST unique names i heard in brazil! eek

There are American girls named Nivea too...Based on popular usage, it is 4.212 times more common for Nivea to be a girl's name.

The popularity of Nivea is: 3.204

Nivea` is a large global skin- and body-care brand, owned by German company Beiersdorf. The company began in 1911 when Beiersdorf developed a water-in-oil emulsifier as a skin cream with Eucerit, the first stable emulsion of its kind. The company's owner, Oskar Troplowitz, named it `Nivea`, from the Latin word `niveus/nivea/niveum` (meaning snow-white).

Nivea is a rising star. As the voice behind the smash hit single "Danger," labelmate Mystical, Nivea shines. Her appearance in the "Danger," video solidified her as an upcoming star to MTV and BET viewers nationwide.

I've never met your daughters. Maybe it wasn't your daughters in the photo..but I do remember that you posted up a picture of people in blackface as your avatar....and it was an issue for many on the org because it was highly offensive

Actually, for some reason, you identified the people in black face as your daughters. Only a racist would post such a pic and use it as an avatar during black history months, and thats why the mods made you remove it. So how does my reminding you of your prior avatar make anyone other than you a racist?

I am trying my dambest to find this news article from New Zealand where a girl fought like hell to change her name it was BusDepot53 or something like that. so its not always black people that name thier offspring horrid names. How about names like Bertha, Jimbob or how about some twins named catsup and musturd!!! true.

If you don't see nothing wrong with it than I would say nothing. But in this day and age a name like Bertha would probably set a child up for some fierce teasing...that is the point I was trying to make.

seriously...I know people with the name Bertha. Never, ever has a bad or questioning thought popped into my head. A person I went to school with had the name Jimbo and he was just thought of as cool. I never, ever heard anyone clown his name--we thought it sounded cool and unusual...he was loud and outspoken and it made him memorable in a positive way for many of us. (but true...it wasn't Jimbob.) Now...I will admit, these are not names I selected for my own children.....but the sound of those names didn't bring forth any images of the individual other than who they were.
