I was wonder if these actually work hmmm
I guess anything works depending on if you stick to it
or put effort into it.
But the p90x seemed a bit extreme when I saw the
infomercials for it. However, I’ve been reading
about hyperfitness as well, and it seems like at any
age you can become very fit no matter where you start.
I’ll need to check these out. hmmm

St. Paul did it, and he swears by it. If you look at that first pic of The Family from 2003 or so. He's a bit heavier. Compared to now when he's a lot leaner. He's talked about it before. He lost 15 lbs (which on him showed a lot), and at least half his body fat index I think.

On it, doggone it! It is definitely worth the money, if you're willing to commit to it!

I can't see big guys doing it though without passing out. Those people losing weight on those commercials aren't more than 40lbs overweight.

I have all the discs and started working out with P90X in spring / summer 2008. I needed something different than Turbo Jam. I was plateauing and needed more of a challenge. TurboJam was good (20 min workout, 45-min workout, turbo sculpt), but P90X brought it to a whole new level.

Unfortunately I did the first 30 days of P90X classic (the common / normal one) and stopped, just to test it and see how far I could "bring it." About 2 weeks after I re-started the first 30 days again, and stopped again -- due to my work schedule, the the US presidential election (I work in TV and where I live was a hot state and all of the candidates visited the region in the waning weeks of the campaign).

I looked good for my 20-year high school reunion, although I probably could have done phase 2 instead of phase 1 again, but my family noticed that I was getting toned and my flabby belly had shrunk considerably. Clothes fit, I dropped a pant size, and I was sleeping 8 full hours a night and did not need coffee to get me going and keep me going. Honestly, I felt good after each session and could not wait to do the next one. In fact, I exercised at odd hours of the day -- before work, after work right before bed after midnight. One time I worked late past midnight at the TV station, fit in a 75 minute routine, stayed up and did morning radio traffic reports as a fill-in before going to bed.

Unfortuantely after the early November election I stopped and prepped for my return to the university. This past winter/spring session I had little time to exercise and right now I'm paying for it. I gained about 15-20 pounds of flab and I'm hurting. It's all in my gut. I was up for about 17 hours a day, slept on average 4.5-5 hours and drank 3-4 cups of coffee a day. I saw the definition I started to show throughout my body disappear.

A sacrifice yes, I got 4 Bs and a C in my five classes while balancing a 40-plus work week and once a month military duty, but my body started to lose its tone-ness.

As Tony Horton and everyone on the infomercial says "just do it" and "bring it." That "mother" in the informercial said "do it for yourself." I read that message loud and clear.

Now that the winter/spring session is in the books, I have a decent amount of free time and I'm getting back into daily exercise. It's a major time commitment, of which I did not have from January-early May.

I'm going to start out slow and mix it up a little. I'm not ready to dive into P90X right now, but I am going to incorporate Abripper X, shoulders and arms, yoga X, Kenpo, X stretch into my Turbo Jam workouts -- just to get started and start peeling off the "goo." I think I should start with a P90X warm-up (those warm-up stretches are WONDERFUL), then move to TurboJam, then conclude it with 15 minutes of Abripper X.

Say, about 2 weeks into it, I'll switch to a full P90X workout, minus the nutrition drink and energy bars. I use Slimfast and mix in frozen fruit and the like. I also munch on protien bars. I have two sets of dumbells -- 8 and 12s. That's all I need.

I'm still healthy, somewhat, still eat a balanced diet, but I have downed a few McDonald's products and soft drinks since January. I need to stop.

Going back to the first 30 days of phase one, it was a real eye opener. I was sore everywhere the first week and had to stop the DVD repeatedly to get those reps in. But as soon as the second week hit, that thumping drumline hit I was PUMPED and ready for the next exercise. I honestly loved Kenpo X. I was drenched. I also enjoyed Yoga X, even if it called for 94 minutes of concentration, and I am amazed that you can "stretch" and warm-up for 50 minutes of "stretching." My lower back is hurting right now and yoga and X Stretch will do the trick.

Good luck to you. If everything goes well with me and by end of September I'll be back in great shape.
