Writer's fucking block I'm in my last graduate class (thank god) but i'm in the middle of writing the second section (there will be six in all) of my paper which has to be 25 pages long and is due on Friday. So far I'm written a whopping 2 pages and I can't seem to find the sources I need to get my mind flowing. I'm thinking about just turning in for the night since i've already wasted 3 hours on staring at the damn screen trying to think of something else to write or some sources to find. I hate this, the whole paper will be 80 pages...and I can't seem to get through the 2nd fucking section!!! I ended up emailing my teacher asking her to give me some pointers on what to do next because i'm stuck.
I'm trying to start off early in the week with this shit so I won't be bogged down by the time Friday comes, but my mind never seems to work when I want to do shit early, it's always at the last minute that I can churn out a paper in the wee hours of the morning on the date its due. Just how retarded I am I guess. So there's my rant for the night. [Edited 2/3/09 19:43pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

How are businesses who advertise weight loss programs and products risking consumer's health because of deceptive marketing practices? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'm a horrible writer, myself. I overdo the writing! I can't explain it. I think I'm so fucked up, man! I'm going to be taking my first college English Course for the second time (Failed the first.). I'm so scared, man! How many years have you been attending? And 80 pages? FUCK! I'm not cut out for this shit, man! This sig is just a fig of your imago-neigh-shun

the second section of the paper is about the literature review, which means I have to search for a shit load of sources and find out what the experts say about my topic. I have three sub questions also which expand on the main research question, but i'm having trouble finding sources about what experts say regarding marketing research. We have to use peer review articles and journals, basically no online articles since some are just based on personal "opinion" and could be biased. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I've been in graduate school since Spring of '06. It's been a long time coming, but its worth it. I just have to get past this class to fully enjoy myself again. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Not knowing where to look for information is not writer's block. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I didn't say that having trouble looking for the sources was only problem, I SAID that I was also having trouble on how to expand on the topic as well. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I feel your pain. I just too English Comp 1A last fall. Apparently, the first English Comp class is supposed to be like writer's boot camp - that's what what I heard a few people in the class say, as well as my history teacher say. Not only does one have to write objectively, they also have to cite according to the proper citation guide, etc., etc. A suggestion right off the top - if your school has tutor's available, go set up and appointment. I did it for my first paper, and that got me off to a good start.

Anyone who would have to write so much on a topic that I can't help but to think is relatively new and therefore, the evidence is out there, but it's a matter of credible sources; anyone who goes there already gets an A in my book. I went through the same thing with my piddly 10-page research project last semester.

Not to burst your bubble, but there are plenty of peer review articles that are based on personal "opinion" as well, so don't beat yourself up over that. Have you tried looking through some of the trade publications like Advertising Age or Broadcast and Cable with regard to ads? Also try some of the medical journals like JAMA or the New England Journal of Medicine and look for weight loss studies. Also check out Center for Science in the Public Interest. As for writer's block, you can have all the sources and research available to you and still now know what to say or how to say it. Try to focus just on writing in chunks of 10 pages at at time and take a break on occasion unless you really feel the words flowing from you.

Yes i've been searching through using trade publications, and a lot of them. I have quite of few sources already from Advertising Age. I also have a few of peer review articles and journals as well. But I've been having a better night tonight with the paper. I'm at the 10-page mark, my references are at about 15 total, I'll need to have about 25 or 26 by the time i'm done with this week's section of the paper. So i'm on my way. Thanks for the tip. I actually am about to retire for the night because I'm dogg tired, and my eyes are about to shut down on me. I'll complete the next 10 tomorrow night, and the final 5 pages on Friday night....(hopefully) I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

You need a break to clear your mind. Turn off the computer for a while and go for a walk or spend some time with friends - just something to get the subject out of your head for a while.
