So now that The Dark Knight has opened to gigantic movie audiences and stellar reviews as the greatest superhero movie of all time, it's probably a certainty that Warner Bros. will want to release a third Batman movie from Christopher Nolan. But how will they ever top The Dark Knight in style and intensity? And who will be the next villain? The Penguin? The Riddler? Catwoman? Bane? Black Mask? Or should they introduce Robin in the next movie? And how would Christopher Nolan spin the characters of the Riddler or Catwoman? Would the Riddler be a clever but sadistic serial killer who leaves riddles at every crime scene? Would Catwoman become Bruce Wayne's new love interest? Would the next Batman movie tie into the Justice League? Give your thoughts.

i've heard rumblings that the riddler is going to be the main villain in the next batman movie, though i don't know how the character is going to fit in with the "gritty realism" concept of nolan's batman franchise.

i think it would be great to have a hyper-seedy, hypersexualized, hyper-obsessive version of catwoman. i can totally see a "gritty realism" version of her character that could be unlike any version of her ever attempted in film/tv/comics/etc.

i also can't see how robin or batgirl would fit into the "gritty realism" world of these films.

i wonder if they'll bring back the joker and who'll they'll choose to replace heath ledger?

I think Riddler and Catwoman done in this gritty, realistic style could be amazing for a third. Or they could use Ras Al Ghul again in the third, which would tie in nicely as a trilogy--for some reason, superhero movies seem to viewed as building to a trilogy nowadays.

I'd also be happy if they updated the Boss Thorn/Silver St. Cloud storyline for the third.

Just as long as they stay away from the Penguin...

Have they really been done to death? For Batman, most people wanted to forget two of those nineties movies. And Hulk was a disappointment to the filmmakers both times it was done--they thought if they redid it, they could relaunch it more successfully and have an opportunity to do more sequels.

They've really just barely scratched the surface of what they could be doing.
