When I was younger, before I was anywhere near dating age, my mother used to show me pictures of men who had been accused or convicted of rape and say to me, "look how normal he looks. he could be anyone you know" just to demonstrate how you can NEVER tell who is a rapist and who isn't.


I feel for this girl, it seems like she thinks rapists are sleazy looking people and their victims are sleezy looking girls. She just seems to take the matter too lightly.

For me the most shocking thing is the fact that this woman came on the Tyra Banks show and made Tyra look like the smart one! Aside from that the preppie murder incident started in a bar that was known to be frequented by upper Manhattan's most affluent and chic youth. I wonder why this idiot thought just because she lives in a nice neighborhood (or what she perceives is a nice neighhborhood) it can't happen to her. Ironically though, because she is so stupid nothing has happened to her yet cause God pities fools and children...

I can only imagine this girl is a special case if it actually landed her on a talk show. But, yeah, you're right -- doing this sort of thing with complete strangers is dangerously pervasive. And with the internet serving as cruise bar nowadays, you no longer even get face time to pretend to discern a person's wierdness. You get a hot pic (which might not even be of the person), some sexy talk and it's like, "When, where and who brings the condoms?"

I was naive to think it was something only a cross section of young gay men did, but I've been shocked as I've gotten older at how many people of all sorts -- including women -- have these random, risky hookups.
