how important is it to you to wash your car?

i have a pretty nice looking midnight blue/teal silhouette minivan. here baltimore, it's gorgeous one day, raining the next, or at least looking like it's gonna rain (like today). so right now i haven't washed my ride in weeks because everytime you wash it, it fucking rains the nextr day and it's muddy/dirty all over again. but there are some people who wash their car like every day, and it really looks good...i just don't see the logic. is it vain to have a beautifully waxed car 365 days a year?

I'd love to have to a perfectly polished, waxed car 365 days a year... cool
However, my family has 6 cars and a 2-car garage. I am not one of the ones who gets to use it. So my beautiful purple ride has to brave the elements.... Every time I get it washed, it rains. One time I spent about $50. getting it simonized on a clear, sunny day. Within 2 hours, A THUNDERSTORM!!! storm

I'm not one of those car people, it's not filthy but I definitely don't give enough of a fuck to keep it waxed all the time. It could use a wash right now, in fact neutral

I wash the outside of my car maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I am not a "car person" either. As long as the interior is clean I don't worry about it. It gets a good vacuuming when I take it in for regular maintenance so, eh.

I can't wash mine all winter or the locks will freeze up.

That said, I wash it maybe once or twice a summer. lol I don't care what my car looks like. Cars are stupid anyway.

Definately not a fanatic about my car being clean...I've got kids, so the inside looks worse than the outside sometimes...hmm

Remember when we were dating and we cleaned the fuck out of the car before a date???

I keep my cars like I keep my home, neat and clean.
The interior typically is clean, during the winter it might get a little messy on the floors.
Usually I will wash my car when it needs it, which may be about every other week.
But if I know its going to be crappy weather I wont bother.
I like cars though. And lately Ive been selling and buying, so its good to keep it as best looking as possible so when I do go to show it to a potential buyer it looks fit. shrug

I am a car nut about keeping it clean. I have kids and I always tell them what you bring in is what you take out. If I spend a good chunk of change on a car then I want it to last and look good. I'll wash it once a week in the summer and wax twice keep it looking new. My wife has the van and that's a different story. But surprise to me she spent 2 hrs cleaning the inside and helped wash the outside last weekend. eek

If I didn't care then I'd buy a cheap piece of shit and just drive it.

I think the only thing holding the paint on is the protective layer of dirt. It's raining at the moment, and looks sparkly!

I drive through the carwash here or there if the winter caused lots of salting for the snow. Otherwise, the exterior shines pretty decent for some reason. Also...I am afraid to vacuum under my seats. I've dropped way too much jewelry and money into that black hole and I keep hoping one day it will all turn up. (3 months ago I found an undamaged 20 inch gold chain, and a ring). When I dropped it I couldn't reach it, and I couldn't see it, and then I forgot about it.... there is still a gold cross under there somewhere.....I dont eat in my car so it doesn't get too bad. I keep it decent looking for the most part

I generally wash both our cars every week, weather permitting. I can't STAND to have a dirty car.

My pet peeve is brake dust on my wheels. I wish car manufacturers didn't think brakes were sexy and we have to be able to see them through the wheels. I want brake covers back!

Back when I had a car (high school/college) it was very important to me. I *loved* my car, I would wash it by hand (never an automatic carwash) and wax it every week or two when the weather was nice; plus Armor-all and vacuum the inside. And no one was allowed to eat in my car either! no no no! Where I grew up cars were very important to high schoolers---everyone was known by their car and everyone took great pride in them. I can still remember the kind of cars my classmates had, and different fun times we had in different people's cars. (Not *that* kind of fun, just cruisin' around, being crazy high schoolers! lol)
