My hero has cancer

I found out that my father has cancer. He has prostate cancer with a PSA (Mach) of 40, and it has spread to his bladder and urethra. He's having a CT scan on Wednesday to see if it's spread to other areas. Evidently, it's a rare type of aggressive cancer.

I am entirely crushed, I have a very strong bond with my daddy. I am flashing back to my childhood, and if anyone has lost a parent, it is the most devastating feeling I've ever felt. I feel like I'm losing my sanity, because I can't ever see my life without my father.

I am not doing well at all.

I don't usually show my vulnerable side, but I am seriously not ok. I'm drinking at 11:30am. To describe this feeling would be like wanting to crawl out of your skin, and almost being punched in the stomach. I've never felt like this before.

Do you have someone you can talk to? It's important that you have people where you can be "weak" .

I will do what I have to do, and if my hubster doesn't get it, I don't care. I am WAY beyond that point, I will feel what I feel regardless.

Hugs, Gemini. What a tough time, but be faithful... you never know how things may be worked out. In the meantime, love your dad and take care of both him and yourself.

Don't be discouraged. It may be a tough fight but he can win it. There are so many treatments available these days and more and more people are winning the battle. Make sure he gets the best treatment out there.

Where are you from? Dana Farber in Boston is one of the best places out there, people come from all over to be seen by the doctors there.
