I Hate Mice! No, not the fuzzy litte rodents; they're pretty cute.
I hate computer mice. I'm on the computer at work all day, I org more than I should, I play the occasional game, and mice hurt my wrists. I try to use good posture & stretch, but I can't avoid the obvious fact that my mouse is hurting my hands. Is there a better way? Anyone use a trackball? One of those pen/pads? Joystick? Advil? Mice are horrible.
Try a wrist brace at night for a while. It can save you from having injections in your wrists later on. And the advil is a good idea. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

Sometimes I wear a brace while I mouse, and that helps (until the brace itself starts hurting and I take it off for a while) Is your avatar from National Geographic? My Legacy

I love my mouse. It's just a regular 2 button thing, but my mom hates them. She swears by this thing, however:
You barely have to move your wrist to use it

I usually use my laptop's touchpad. It's much, much easier on the wrist than using a mouse.

My Dr told me to wear the brace at night and it helps but I'll take it off and throw it across the room when it bothers me. No, Cal Tech not National Geographic. was that hard to get used to at all? Part of my problem is that the mouse is so easy & natural for me now that it's hard to use different things. My Legacy

What's the secret to touchpads? Why do they only work when touched by human flesh?

N.G. just did an article on snowflakes. My girlfriend has one as her wallpaper right now. The night thing is a problem. I put my hands in twisted up positions under my pillow or knees or whatever while I sleep. The brace helps stop that, but it can get uncomfortable. My Legacy

It probably took a good month or so to get really used to it, but now I find it much easier to use than a mouse. And it's right there by the keys on the keyboard so the arm movement is minimal when you've been typing and need to use the cursor. The stress on the shoulder is therby also minimal, and the whole process is just so fast and smooth. I love it. .

What's the secret to touchpads? Why do they only work when touched by human flesh? Okay, you made me try using it with a bottle cap. And yes, that worked fine too, so it's just pressure sensitive I guess.

I don't have a laptop, is there anything comparable for a desktop? I don't know. I don't think so acually, because I've been looking for one without success. You see, after working long hours with my laptop I got neck problems instead since the screen is attached to the keyboard, so I went and bought a separate screen and a separate keyboard and I'm now basically using the laptop as a harddrive when I'm at home (but as soon as I want to leave I just disconnect it and it becomes a laptop again, perfect!).

Moderator | I hate them too but I hate that keyboard thing on my laptop more.
Oh well, I guess we are all destined to get carpal tunnel. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |
