Disater Flicks..let's discuss

I was watching Independence Day today - for like the fourth time or so, LOL...and I was saying to myself - what is it about this movie that scares the shit out of me?...and then I thought about it some more, I finally came to the conclusion that it's just the most entertaining, but not the most realistic..this was basically Hollywood with all the bells and whitles....So, I was wondering...maybe I could start a topic on this becasue I was curious as to what the Orgers thought was the most frigtening dissater film they have seen....and if u feel like it, please give a brief reason as to why u think so.

Also, have u guys had enough?...is Hollywood too fixated on these films?...is it overkill?...one idea, rehasing the other...

Here r my choices:

1. Independence Day - like I said, that shit is just entertaining and well casted to say the list, from teh president to WIll Smith, it was the perfect blockbuster.

2. The day after Tomorrow - this is probably close to being the most realistic beacuse global warming is for real, the movie wasn't that great, but it got the point accross.

3. Posiedon - i dont do boat trips that much, but i already have a fear of the water - so this film heightened my fear even more.

4. Armageddon - this film didn't really frighten me to say the least...it had very little effect, now, can this happen, I dont know, I have to reserach this further.

5. War Of The Worlds - it was just entertainment for me, plain and simple, very Hollywood, special effects were amazing, the movie, Independence Day comes to mind...but the orginal War Of The Worlds came out b4 Independence Day, so, it's whatever...a great film, great acting, u name it.

6. Category 7: The End of the World - This came after hurricaine Katrina, so naturally this had an effect on me, again, global warming is for real. Also, for a TV movie, this shit rocked.

7. Deep Impact: Another TV movie, a little cheesey, not as believeable..I may need to give this another watch, it's been a minute...

8. United 93: I refuse to see this...the film is based on lies in my opinion and was made for pure profit. There are so many conspiracy theories regarding what really did happen to that plane, ok, moving on.

9: World Trade Center: I haven't seen this; but plan to....I'm afraid this may get emotional for me, but I will see it eventually.

10. Twister: It was ok, I couldn't get into it and since Twisters don't occur too much in the DC area, the movie didn't really faze me much..

11. Aftershock: Earthquake in New York - Naw...an Earthquake in Newyork, LOL, the Cubs will win a world series and The Detroit Lions will win a Superbowl b4 we ever see that shit.

12. Volcano: not bad, Tommy Lee Jones was excellent, not too far fetched, I mean, with all the wild fires in California it makes you think. A very good film indeed, but not one of my favorites.

Ok, well those r my choices, I know there have been many more but I foscused on the recent films and the ones that dealt more with tjhe end of the world or realism.

I meant that Mel Gibson movie where the hero actually dies at the end. The fact that he opened up an eternal 'party back at mine' policy in his hometown of Heaven for all sinners is a fucking disaster waiting to happen if you ask me.
