I used to go to a community center near my house when I first came out and during one of the raps we had a mix of the two groups, one was under 25 and the other over and there was this man in his eighties who told us how proud he was off all of us, so young and coming out and he just broke down and wept because he was only coming out.....in his eighties and how he had never known what it was like to have a loving relationship with a man. He told us to never forget how lucky we were to be born into a more accepting time. I have always remembered that and it's one reason why I'm open, so none of us ever have to miss out on our own lives....
