The Org in Moderation
With prince.org at its highest membership levels ever, activity here has increased excessively. Threads and posts need more moderation presence than ever before. Prince is doing his share too, keeping us in the news and creating and/or doing what he does best: staying controversial!
prince.org members are the best on the web, and we consistently have our message boards filled with conversation that would make your mama proud. However, we still get our share of those who feel the need to share something, anything, with others that should have been left on their hard drive – regardless of the posted rules. We moderators have our hands full. (Especially poor Mach in P&R!) This being an election year, the P&R forum has stayed especially busy.
It has become evident that we need to look into appointing more moderators to this site. Not because of a lack of involvement by the mods that are already donating hour after hour here, but because there’s just so much more activity going on around here! It’d be nice to have some moderators here in the time zones when most of us Americans are sleeping.
If you ar-e interested in applying to become a moderator at prince.org, please state so here, and/or email Ben directly at ben@prince.org. Give us your reasons, which forums you wish to moderate and why. Special attention will be given to those applying from non-US time zones (all foreign nations)!

While I myself can never be a mod ( I would most likely abuse my position for the purpose of trying to get laid), I just want to send a quick shot out to all any future mods out there.
The current roster of mods, while having performed an adequate job at maintaining stability to all forums, have been lax in certain areas. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not putting any kind of blame or anything. I understand that there are only a certain number of ‘em trying to moderately moderate everything & stuff. However, so far, I’ve passed the three year mark on this site. And in all honesty, I feel that my ass shoulda been banned a long time ago. I’m hoping, that with the increase of moderators, than this will be an issue that will become more relevant & therefor will be given a certain amount of particular attentionin in the near future.
Ban the Illustrator.

I would like to become a moderator of the Prince Forum or the General Discussion forum. I live in England, and am on the Org pretty much every night, give or take the odd night a week.
I know Im new here to the org, only joined in summer of this year, but I feel Im liked in the community already. I get on well with others, dont start arguments, and make my points valid, while still being civilized.
I myself have bootlegs of Prince stuff, and I would never dream of sharing it here, where it could put the Forum in jeopardy. I dont want this forum to have actions taken against it, like what happened to Housequake. It was a rough patch for all Prince fans, and we dont deserve it again.
As for the General Discussion forum, Im new to there, but feel Im liked in the community already. Id keep things under wraps, keep the arguments down and make sure nothing too crude is posted. Im a fun loving guy, but can put my foot down when things go too far.
Id be more than happy to be a member of the Org Staff. Ive had previous moderation experience, from running my own forums, to being moderator on graphics forums (general discussion) So yeah, pretty please can I be a mod

I’d be happy to help moderate both the Prince section and Music: Non-Prince section.
I’m in the UK, and I’m on this site both at home and on the move via my Sidekick
I have a wealth of Prince knowledge and music knowledge in general, I listen to everything!
I’ve moderated and ran a lot of forums myself also, so I know a fair share!

well if you want someone balanced in their views here I am……………(must admit some of them on here are a tadge unhinged)…. I confront aggression with a calmness and sense of humour. I am not judgmental but do know commonsense boundaries. I will moderate any forum you wish and am quite adaptable. I live in England and am on this site most days and love it and also am fond of the people who post here.

Hi, I am not quite sure what qualifications are needed in a position like this but I would like to be a moderator of the Org Artist Community if a position there needs to be filled at all.
Why? Simply because I love hearing/reading other people’s creations on the forum and I hope to keep all the responses to others creativity civilized if others vehemently disagree.
We are all lives, we all do the same thing, we are creators/artists of things that move us, and there is more that unites us than seperates us in terms of that.

Just give me some out of the way forum where only a few obscure members post and I can feel the rush of banning a few people without hurting anyone. Just make up a forum and have bots or something if need be. Please, just one time, and I swear I’ll change after that. I just need a fix.

I actually want to be a P&R mod and take the role seriously. I decided to post this because I feel there is a need for additional moderation for a couple of reasons.
1. P&R is reaching uncontrollable levels of attacks and rules violations on some days.
2. People are viewing threads, but afraid to express their views for fear of attack.
3. prince.org is under a microscope right now. I would hate to lose the site because someone was being ignorant or intentionally violating rules that could get the site sued.
I like to act the fool as much as anyone but I am able to temper myself in serious matters or when people need help with issues in the forums. I understand that my interactions in the forums should be toned down as a moderator and would rather do that than go on watching people attack each other and others endure those attacks.
My opinions are my own and I do not take offense or try to deny others of their opinion. I like to share them, but only by stating and not by attacking others. I am able to have my own and still see both sides and not prejudge posters.
My background is well suited to seeing both sides and I can easily elaborate on my history with Ben or other mods if they like. I have a law background and it is based upon judging and understanding opinions.
I have been here for 6 years and seen alot of changes and alot of orgers come and go. I have had the same name the whole time and always been open with any orgers I interact with. I have no existing beefs and no agenda other than making the org a bit more tolerant in the P&R forum.
Oh yea, I would totally moderate GD as well cause that place is crazy.

I’ll moderate the alt.music.prince (Usenet) forum.
-I don’t belong to any cliques.
-I’m obesely overwieght, ungodly hairy & ugly. Therefore, I’m not a photowhore.
-And even though I’m kinda shallow, my still waters do to tend to run deep.
- I live in Chicago, but I keep weird hours ( plus, if I’m refused this position based on where I live, that would be a case of blatant “locationism”. Then, I would be forced to sue your asses off faster than your can spell PFU. And don’t be fooled….. I may have the body of a beached manitee corpse, but I still have a mind & dispostion of a sleek, cunning, iced-hearted, powerfully venomed snake. Believe me… in a courtroom, you don’t want nunna dis).
-With the exception of my attributes that I just described in the parenthesis above, overall, I’m well-balanced in my views & I enjoying meeting new people ( as long as it’s only over the internet. In the real world, I have space issues. And not just because of the tremendousocity of my girth. But, I’m not even gonna get into the issue of the lack of hugs of motherly hugs I had growing up, here on a public forum. Lemme just say that , to any orgers out there who’ve also suffered from such traumalities, as your moderator, I would not only empathize…. but also… I would care.).

I can no longer be a moderator (my sincere apologies to everyone. I know there will be disappointment) as my prince.org is currently not showing properly. It’s like some kind of basic html page or something and I can’t see emoticons (only as words) or post in the forums.

That sounds like the chalenge I would need! As a fulltime job at the General Discussion Forum. I am more a listener as a talker. I like this place and for years it was the communication way I most used to talk with people, have met so many nice people. I love the org and the orgers. It is a place were we all can speak out and give our opinions about all the things and matters, of course keeping the respect.
Well, as I am longtime desemployed, I havent found the opportunity to own a p.c. and to Moderate, it needs a lot of time, because I would have to read much more, then I can do right now, from the librery’s computer or the ciber café.
So, I think, what a pitty! Maybe next time.
I am learning a lot from the orgers, even my English is becoming a bit better. Thank you!

JDOD has been here forever and he knows what to do and how to do it, he has integrity without too much pride. Same with Veronica, she chats quite a bit and Bev can’t do the work in there all the time. Veronica also has the passion for Prince that’s lacking in most if not all of the current mods, which I believe would enable her to look beyond the personal shit and focus on what the forum is/should be about. Mars would be frigging great for P&R, maybe with more/tougher mods I could actually stomach going in there, I’d love to with the American elections going on but…see Mars’ post above.
I believe that having mods modding one or two forums at most would be a great idea if there was enough of them to go around, it would enable them to be more of regular posters at times when they’re not working and I think that’s a bonus.

I vote for Rhondab as moderator for the P&R forums. She’s “fair and balanced” and that’s the type of person we need there.
I don’t know Mars23 well, but judging from the positive comments a few have posted here about him, I believe he would be a “fair” candidate as a moderator for the P&R forum as well. Another is LittleRedCorvette, she seems to understand that this is not a “perfect world” and that everyone’s opinion is not always want we want to hear or expect it to be, just knowing and accepting that the world is full of personalities, and that whether we want to admit or not there will always be negative and positive opinions on any of life’s issues that’s discussed in P&R, and that’s why I believe LittleRedCorvette could handle that.

Damn, forgot something. It’s about time Finess was made a mod in the Non-P music forum. I don’t believe there is anybody on this site that knows more about music and whatever he carries as baggage from this site it’s so many years in the past that it really should be DEAD DEAD DEAD. I believe he was told he was “too controversial” when he last applied to be a mod but that’s certainly not true anymore. The music forums and P&R in particular need people who’re knowledgeable in the topics discussed, I think _that_ more than anything would/will help keep topics on track and members need people they can respect with regards to facts of what’s being discussed. Finess is widely respected on this site for his musical knowledge and it should be recognised, as should the positive effects of him being one of the first members of the first incarnation of this site and ever since. Thank you.
