What makes Prince so legendary?

I have a question...

What makes Prince so Legendary?

Is it the a$$less pants?

The top of the line production of his music?

The way he sings falsetto?

His extreme religious beliefs?

What do you all think?

There's just no one like him, he's a one off but a mixture of what's gone before him and what has come after him ....

Like MJ a talent that gives so much of himself but we still don't know who the F**k he is or how he does what he does....

Gifted...but flawed...Strong but weak....Sexy but Cool...Modern but Old School...male but female....Kind but Mean....Open but closed...

Great description, I'll second it and add.....

Prince is an enigma - a musical genius. And to be as famous as he was and is in the time when the competition was "impossible to beat" so to speak, he held his own. It screams volumes of who and what he is.

I think Prince is legendary in several ways.

First off he is legendary for being one of, if not the most prolific songwriter in contemporary music.

Second he is legendary for his "one man band" recording capabilities and his live performances.

Third, he is legendary for bringing sexuality to the forefront of popular music, as for being the cause of the first parental advisory notice.

Fourth, he is legendary for being so small yet also being one of the biggest dicks AND having some of the biggest balls in the music industry.

It is the live music concerts that makes him legendary and one of a kind IMO. There are few artists left that can deliver what the "little Napoleon" of music can in concert anymore! Even the songs you don't like on the LP come across electrically to shock you to life in those live performances! That is why it is such a shame that he won't release quality DVDs and CDs of those great performances! Hope like hell I can see him live again!

I was sort of thinking the same the other day...the only thing that I could come up with was history.

He was, in my eyes, part of the big 3, the first megastars - Michael Jackson, Madonna & Prince...all hitting thier top game at the same time. No matter how crap they became over the years they will always have that status. If any of them was releasing what they are releasing now they wouldnt stand a chance...theyve gone from setting trends (Prince right up into teh lat 90s) to desperately trying to claw thier way into the 'relevant' slot...Madonna albums now are pretty much a collection of cool-with-the-kids-artists with madonna guest vocalling, Michael was makining his coem back and palnning to cause a stir by actually getting of his ass for the first time in years...we all know how that ended.

Prince made his bid with 21 night but shit on his own foot by suing his fans the second he left UK soil and but fucking themYET AGAIN with a website.

Goen of subject a bit but...what makes them a legend - teh same thing taht makes anybody a legend...they used to be ace before they died (either musically or literally)
