Prince's vocal have it declined

During early days Prince was great singer in studio
but live he still didn't find his falsetto and
regular register until 1982 .
Not did Prince improved his dancing, his
voice started sounding like
the Prince we know.
Not since the late 90's i started hearing
change in his voice when he started adding faux r'n'b cliche of the time period.
On 2002 One nite alone tour his voice sounded
great but since then i feel like Prince
is either not trying to sing
great or he is not inspired.
Do you think Prince lost a bit of his perfect pitch when he sings live?

Not at all. Check "Elixer" or the live performance of "Somewhere here on earth" last year at Jay Leno. His falsetto is still good to me just as his low register.

Range seems to still be there, but his tone is a lot rawer than it used to be. I hear some difference in his mid, if that makes any sense.

Makes a lot of sense. I notice a difference too.

Most artists, as they age ..... so does their voice.

He definitely can't hit the high notes the way he used to - but hey, after being on the road for 30 years of your life, he's still at 99%.

Prince isnt the best singer lets be honest sad he just screeches in high notes....however his best vocal IMO is the end of Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother/Wife were he holds the note at the end (check it out if u need reminding)

I think his voice preformance has dipped a bit. There's a lot of stuff on 3121 I believe shows this. Well, Fury sounds a billion times better live anyways.
I still play pokemon. I play warcraft. And I'm awesome.

Definite wearing of the vocal chords. The guy's done a lot of screaming in his music over the years. nod

You guys act as if you never heard his Montreoux live take of LRC
His vocals are STILL intact-

This is a guy who knows how to sing and treat his vocal chords properly.
As a soprano I can say Prince has tremendous breath control and lungs which he utilizes to the full extent. Sure he screams here and there, but not to the point of vocal wearability lol i mean c'mon
People like Brittney Spears who simply can't & keeps her throat closed off when singing will suffer greatly in the long run.
"Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

Hey Jesusfreak. I just meant that the screams and some of the falsetto he once used seem to have mellowed with age, however I'm only using my personal opinion.
I'm not a voice expert and could always be wrong. I love his vocals and new rendition of LRC from Montreux too...it brings me to tears. We probably agree on more than either of us realize, so I won't forget what we have in common. lol hug

Take into account the different style of mics and compression and reverb that are in fashion now as opposed to the 80's.

All the vocals sound more clear and grainy because of equipment as well. As far as high notes, I dunno... would have to measure or compare exact songs.

I think the venue may play a small part.
Maybe the acoustics in a smaller venue compliment Prince's vocals more than a stadium gig.
I went to 6 O2 shows and 2 ONA shows and I thought the more intimate venue was by far better.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Hey, Prince has inhaled so many pussy hairs over the years, his throat has to be pretty scarred up. Them pubes is coarse.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
