What album do you tend to forget about...and then...

...when you listen to it, you're blown out of the water.

I just listened to Around the World In a Day start to finish. What a fucking brilliant album.

I got the same feeling I had when I played it for the first time - on the day it was released in 1985. Totally expecting Purple Rain II and hearing something so different...so amazing. It gave me goosebumps then and now. I even started tearing up a li'l bit on Condition of the Heart. touched

I don't know why it's on my "least played" list - because I really love it. I hear the tracks often enough - I just rarely play the entire album. I gotta get back to basics more often. nod

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Dirty Mind.

Truthfully, I'm not that into the album as a whole. For some reason, at first mention, it just doesn't grab me. But when I actually force myself to listen to it, I always recognize how amazing it really is. I would come back to it for "When You Were Mine" anytime, though.

NPS, i listened to it today, on my ipod. I don't like the album, i think it is one of Prince's worst. But today, up loud, with the sun shining and not a lot else to do exept listen to the music, i decided it is not that bad after all.

I would not say it blew me out of the water, but i will give it another listen tomorrow.

OMG yes. I absolutely love the way it starts, especially, with the IWBYL segue.

The Vault. I hated it when it came out. It took a long time to grow on me, and even now it still almost feels like it's new or undiscovered.

Also Come. I listen to its individual components quite often. But when I return to the entire album and enjoy its quirky brilliance as a whole, I always appreciate it immensely.

I played The Truth today for the first time in years and was blown away. Fabulous vocals and acoustic guitar and 'One Of Your Tears' is just so heartfelt almost painful to listen to I love it. There is humour as well 'Dionne' has some lovely touches the danced to Mancini line made me smile smile

Come. There isn't a song on it I really love as a standalone song, but I absolutely love it as an album. It flows quite nice, I'm putting it on right now.

You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

Diamonds and pearls. I don't play it that often as I find it quite patchy. But when I actually do bother to listen to it completely I enjoy it.

Still collecting that vinyl

The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale.

It's such a nice little mellow jazzy album. The songs work well together; I do wish some were a bit longer though.

Batman.

I always kind of think of it as a throwaway, but if I really sit through it and listen (at night, only at night), it's a funky, weird, quirky, atmospheric, experiment in craziness that I can appreciate... like a freaky costume party. How was this album the soundtrack to a summer blockbuster? Maybe Prince and Tim Burton should get together again...

This is why it's great the his music is so varied, cos even the albums we're not keen on we will enjoy a lot sometimes depending on mood etc.

We can get bored of the same sound all the time.

Depends what you're doing as well, you may not want to sit down and listen to NEWS but if it's on as relaxing background music...

Personally my least favourite is Sign 'O' The Times, too rough for my liking, give me NPS over that anyday. But sometimes Sign just clicks and I enjoy it.

We all have different tastes and favourites so there's something for everybody smile

NEWS is my favorite album when I have to do some heavy-duty writing at work - or when I'm on my way home from rehearsal late in the evening. nod
