What's YOUR reasons to still being a Prince fan these days.. ?

My reasons to still being a fan of Prince:

1) Even though most of Prince's recent music sounds uninspired to me, I absolutely love - and will always love - Prince's old music released on Warner Bros. 1978 to 1995.

2) Prince can still make a great concert

3) I am still hoping for a Prince album masterpiece, even though I know it might not ever happen again.

4) To be a Prince fan. For me it's like an old marriage, you don't want to brake it - and leave, even though it's not filled with so much emotion like it used to.

Now tell me your reasons to still being a fan of Prince these days.... biggrin question

I love music. If he keeps putting out music, no matter what the quality, I'll still love him.

What is your main problem?
To whom it may concern: I love you!
Humankind..be both.

Why not?

These threads are funny when people make them. What kind of relationship do you think fans and artists have? I got over the concept that an artist was only up on the stage for the fans a long, long time ago. It's a business relationship. As long as he entertains me, I'll still spend money on him. And typically, people don't exist as fans upwards of 20 years and just stop listening to the person's music - even if you get into some weird personal beef shit like LotusFlower or Crystal Ball.

1) He's STILL the most diverse artist making music. Period

2) #1 means he's unpredictable and that always excites me!

3) His musicianship is still killer even if the albums aren't "classics" (but I've enjoyed Lotus, MPLS, 20ten, 3121 and PE; His "mediocrity" is better than most artists' best stuff)

4) Dude delivers in concert

5) I'm enjoying how his "sensual/sexual/funky vs. spiritual and political selves manifest themselves in his lyrics and song concepts

There's no one like Prince. And imo, there's no one who can imagine and deliver the kind of music Prince makes. There's just something about the way he makes those sounds (his 'love tongue' - a description coined by someone recently when referring to Prince & the music he makes : ) Prince combines melodies, harmonies and funk like no other artist.

He's still making interesting songs and solid albums...

He's still kicking it as a live act...

When it comes down to it, these are the things I look for in any artist. Sure, I may not agree with everything he says or does, but that's secondary to the music - as a fan of "music", that is.

There is still no one quite like him....read a fantastic article in Q magazine saying that he really is the last of his kind and we need to enjoy him.....so true

Also every album release for me has maybe one or a few killer tracks.....The word, chelsea rodgers, dance 4 me to name but a few......which says to me hes still got it in him

Also live he IS STILL the best or certainly one of the best out there!!!!

vitriol

Even though I absolutely dislike his output (both studio and live) since 2004, new old things keep surfacing in the bootleg world every now and then with a much improved quality.

That and the outtakes is what kept (and keeps) me on board for the time being.

I don't need to start 'I'm boring so I'm leaving' threads and then stay.

Am still and guess will always remain a fan because I like his vibe, the energy he puts into his playing, specially on stage..

I enjoy listenning to his voice when he sings effortlessly, I mean not falsetto or else..

I figure out that his music is definetely a whole part of me.

He has given ME no reason not to still be a Prince fan. Sure, he music is not quite as mind blowing to me as it was back in the day, but its still superior to most of the stuff on the radio today. His music still, for the most part, is full of positive, spiritual beliefs that I share.

I've been a fan for only 2 years, there is still a lot to discover smile

Also, the music he makes today is sounding good to my ear, so I can't say he bores me yet. But he should come to Holland soon!

You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

Old habits die hard! lol

That, and maybe curiosity.

Prince can surprise you. He can upset you. He can amaze you. He can disappoint you.

I guess I'm still looking for a song to hit me like When Doves Cry did back in the day. I'll never forget the first time I heard it. I was mesmerized.

More often than not, I'm still pleased with his work... and he still continues to please me musically like no artist can, or ever will.

The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Because he's a gifted musician with a fantastic body of work. He is amazing live and can sing any song anytime and live too!! None of this lip-syncing bs. He's a great guitarist too - one of the best IMHO.

This is like asking why people still love the Beatles - when a musician or group has such an amazing body of music and great talent, why would anyone not be a fan?? Even if Prince never released another album, I would continue to be a big fan.
