Have we EVER had one? A full show of just concert footage, with no post-production changes, fixes or edits? I don't think we have.

The Werchter show is already out on DVD, I don't know about the others.

I'm hoping for a Blu-ray! A high-def release of, for example, the Paisley Park show last year would be awesome!! biggrin

You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

I wonder what the reason is why we WON'T get a live DVD from Prince??????

Maybe Prince can't sell enough these days, to make it profitable...... question

Could this be the reason.......

It's really strange and sad too, that we won't get an official DVD from each tour.

Look at U2, plenty of official DVD's - but of course they are still able to sell them.

Maybe Prince isn't able to sell?

It's a misnomer that Prince won't release vault stuff because "it won't sell enough to be profitable" and it pains me to see people entertain the idea.

Artists of all calibres release vault material of theirs and the point isn't to sell to make it profitable or whatever - the point is to give your fans the stuff they want from you. And as artists who make money from their fans, they are obliged to do so.

Prince won't release the shit because he's a cryptic, superstitious, over-analytical religious zealot.

We'll never get an official Prince DVD, not while he's alive and breathing. You'd be better finding Bigfoot then you would think a Prince DVD will ever come out.

This. Won't. Happen.

And if it happens, alas for us: it will be incomplete, edited and over-overdubbed.

I did think like that for a while, but he has done some interesting shows in recent years that perk my interest again - performing stuff he hasn't done for years, or even ever.

I agree the run of the mill hits shows are boring, but I'm not seeing that many tbh.

I wasn't there, but I liked the setlist and pretty much everyone on the concert thread said it was a great show, including you now I look back on that thread. What was wrong with it and which show would you like to see then? I should explain that I only considered new shows, since I'm not a huge fan of remastering old VHS shows and prince would probably mess-up, if you look at what he did with the first SOTT tour DVD and the Aladdin DVD.

I was still trying to convince myself it was a great show. It was not. There was at least an hour where I was bored out of my wits. There were little bits and pieces that were brilliant, but most of it was befuddling and frustrating (Larry coming on stage for 30 minutes was hard to get past). I mean he managed to make Forever In My Life boring. If he wants to release a great MN show, I would prefer he release the Target Center show on 07/07/07. That was a classic 10/10 show.

I keep hoping for the same thing. I am a fan of Shelby J's on facebook and I was quite envious of all those that got to go to the Europe shows and afterparties. I think a DVD of outtakes from those shows and parties that, unlike that book 21 nights, also showed his fans sharing in his excitement woud sel at least as well as Lotusflow3r. There are alot of people like me who became fans fairly recently, long after he cut down on live shows. Given that our chances of seeing him live are close to nil we would certainly buy the DVD if given the option.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

It would be nice if he did a concert/concerts where the focus of the set list was the last decade, and then put that on a DVD. A testament of recent history.

Prince still has his fanbase and supporters.A Dvd you think won't sell because it won't be profitable enough?I thought Prince didn't care about sales.I still say that whenever the man is ready,he'll put out a Dvd,so people stop being so doubtful!

I would dearly love DVD releases of the old VHS concerts, Purple Rain from '85, Parade from '86 and of course the Lovesexy ones. I know they may be available as bootlegs, but I don't know how to obtain them (nor do I wish to).

We can live in hope smile

Long overdue! I imagine the reason for lack of official DVD's is that he is such a perfectionist. #1 on my list would be a release of the Musicology Tour opener that was filmed and broadcasted in the US. Saw the bootleg and what a great concert. #2 I would really like the concert in Denmark this summer. I am still hearing people of all ages that witnessed the concert and loved it!

If he intended, soon after these shows, to release them, do you think he wouldn't have done that by now?

They are off into the vault.
