Should prince go Country.

Should Prince try a country album. Sales are better in country music. Look at sugarlands hit song stuck like glue. Prince could do sticky like glue in country form.

If you're talking country western, no,

If your talking country... no

Nothing wrong with the genre's But P, never really ventured there, outside of a few songs here or there.

Alternative Rock, sure...

Prince's acoustic skills are underrated.

i'd like another gem like The truth, with better quality songs.

Modern country is not as bad as many people think.

It's where real songwriting has gone these days. I actually kinda like it.

I like some country music: Reba Macintyre, Winona Judd (she can sing the hell outa R&B with THAT voice!), and Johny Cash... But for Prince? NO, NO, and NO! Would not fit him in the least except as a humurous song--a one-off! He is firmly planted in rock and R&B and that's where he needs to stay! Harrrrruuuuummmmpppppph! confused lol

Close. Things like "Horny Toad", "Delirious", "Jack U Off" - those are all rockabilly, and he always seemed to have fun with it.

There's some Prince songs that definitely translate to country if performed slightly differently or even just sung by a country singer. "Sweet Baby" comes to mind. "The Once U Wanna C" could easily be a Shania Twain song. lol

But Prince should do a country album as much as he should a rap one.

That's a big fat Hayellllllll NO!

No, no, hell no and umm, let me see, NO! This has been asked at every Prince site I've ever been a part of. I remember it being discussed at the NPGMC quite clearly. No offense meant to the OP, but it's a ridiculous idea. Preposterous even. Prince doesn't need to "go" anything because he is everything (in a genre sense, not in a "savior" sense lol ). Nine out of every ten Prince songs don't fit in any one single category to begin with. Pigeonholing himself by doing something like a "country album" would come across as ten times more cheesey and contrived than Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic was ever thought to be.

Stupid random comma edit. mad

Yee-haw to that! Modern country is awful! Pretty much anything after Alabama gets a thumbs down from me. Prior to that there's some stuff I can actually listen to. The really old stuff is still the best, though. My opionion, of course. Clearly there's some mf's buyin' "modern country" hand over fist.

Calling those songs rockabilly is like calling "Loose" electronic. Prince mimicing a genre typically involves heavy doses of Prince's personality that take the songs out of the true context of those genres. If a rockabilly artist performed any of those songs the way Prince did, they would be laughed out of the venue.

On a side note, Sheila E. did go country with "Glorious Train," which garnered her a CMT award in 2009. I saw it live and liked it very much. cool

Believe it or not, When Doves Cry is a damn good bluegrass song.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
