This version would have the best sound quality, perfect for a needle drop digital transfer:

US DJ version (Cat: 25677 DJ)

For promotional club and DJ use Paisley Park / Warner Bros intended to issue the album as two 12" EP discs with two songs on each side, playable on 45 RPM. The photos are from the copy that has the first four songs. The plain white labels are from Allied Record Co. in L.A., who pressed for Warner Brothers. The hand written label stickers are dated 11/13/87 and read "1-25677 - A DJ - SH1" and "1-25677 - B SH1". The record is housed in a plain black sleeve US version (Cat: 25677-1). However the inscription in dead wax is different: B-29657 and B-29658.

Probably the weakest album of the 80s. "Dead On It" is awful, "Superfunkycalifragisexy" is so-so, "When 2 R In Love" is out of place-sounding, and "Le Grind," while good, is a poor man's "Eye Know"...

Fav track: Rock Hard

The best album ever made by Prince in my opinion also containing his most creative song to date: Bob George... and also a song I never tire of hearing: Le Grind.

Also love Dead On It (the arrangement and mix is so cool)

and the very deep dark voodoo of Superfunky is supercool.

Let's face it, I really value this album. I kept on searching for copies with better and better fidelity back then in the day, shelling out the bucks, listening oh so carefully to the mixes...

I wish this had been put out instead of Lovesexy. Lovesexy could have been the year after.

Bob ... George ... aint that a bitch!

Because of their half-baked mistakes
We get ice cream, no cake
All lies, no truth
Is it fair to kill the youth?
