Would you / dare you play 20Ten to any of your friends?..

...or would you just feel totally embarrassed!!. In the contect of our Purple world it's not a bad album and for me it's like a secret guilty pleasure BUT there is no way that I could play the whole CD to anyone who has good taste in music!. How 'bout u?.

U know I feel U on this, I don't have Prince's current album (or the last four 4 that matter), but for instance The Rainbow Children album there is no way in hell I would play that album for any of my friends even though I use to "BLAZE"blunt weed to that album on a regular during that time period. With that being said, Prince is my guy, but outside of PR and maybe SOTT's there aren't to many ablums that U could play for your friends from start to finish without them saying WTF!!!!???? omg hmmm And maybe some of us should grow some balls, but I think Prince said it best on the liner notes of Chaos and Disorder something to the effect of, "intended for personal use only"...something like that, and I agree. no, i dont think they would get it. As much as i love sign, i dont think alot of kids my age (i am 18) would understand just how great sign is. I could play Purple rain or the gold experience and i am pretty sure they would enjoy it.

embarrased?? why??

20Ten is an ok album, with a few very good songs.

Beginning Endlessly,

Future Soul Song,

Laydown

imo... good songs... music

but mostly 20Ten is for the fans - I agree, it's not for "the broader masses".

The fact that this is very retro Prince is probably a turn off for most friends of mine, which is my absolute fetish personally...but laydown had some pretty positive responses cool

I'd play all of it for them, including that rediculous shit hop track at the end. My friends hate shit hop as much as I do and we'd just laugh at it and say he must be trying to get some dick from one of these little young thugs. lol

i probably wouldnt play it for anyone i know because i dont know anyone who really gets prince. that sure as hell doesnt mean they have good taste in music. do you feel you have bad taste in music because you like prince or 20ten. if thats true thats pretty sad. princes music makes feel good that i get it while a lot of people dont.

Like all Prince albums, it grows on me by the day. When I found out that Charlie Chaplin went to Vavey to live in exile, it gave Lavaux a whole new dimension. Act of God is incredible and Sticky Like Glue makes me high.

i never play music in front of my friends or go "hey, you have to sit here and listen to this

new music, it's amazing"

probably because i think people don't like that. plus, even something like Sign o the Times,

which you just know is sheer genius, sounds weird or uncomfortable if you make people sit

in your house and listen to it.

people always listen for 30 seconds and then just start talking over the best part of a song

etc. or they simply dismiss it with a lame remark. if someone doesn't outright ask me to put

a certain song on because for whatever reason they might want to hear it, i don't.

whenever company comes over i enjoy listening to them, instead of constantly having some

music playing in BG. i also don't like that at other people's homes. it's just annoying.

a friend told me recently, "i put on this totally awesome cd when these two music lovers were

at our house and they pretty much sat there listening with bored faces and at the very best,

the ultimate cool moment that i really wanted them to hear, one of them went to the bathroom

and the other just talked all over it".

i was like talk to the hand you should know better by now.

enjoy your music because you love it, don't try to convert people and don't hassle them with

something they would not listen to themselves.

but i'm not answering your question, i'm just rambling on and on again without any point.

i guess that's even more annoying than someone forcing their music on you, lol.

but yeah, i wouldn't mind having 20ten on in my car if friends were with me. i'm not ashamed

of anything i listen to. besides, 20Ten isn't an album you'd have to be ashamed about having

in your stereo, is it? it's not the best prince album, not even a great one, but it's still ok and it

has some good music, so why not?

I'd have no problem with playing it. Why should one not? I think its a solid cd . Besides my friends have no problem with listening to the crap they listen to in front of me. I'm rather proud of 20ten.

Yes I have and will continue to. People have dug what I played for them. If I can Endure them playing Lil Wayne, Eminem, or some gutter punk rock then yes I will play all the Prince I want.

Just the way I feel about it.

prince has lost his 'cool'

there is no hook on the entire 20ten record. nothing that would make me or anyone elses ears perk up and say "ooh what was that?"

and there is quite a lot that is just embarassingly bad

"lets get down to beginning endlessly" is this some kinda new age halmark greeting?

"this is the future soul song" thanks for telling me the title of the song prince

"here come the purple yoda" did prince find his funky new sound in a box of cracker jacks

"nothing better than a walk in bland, bland and bland with you" nuf said

"sticky like glue" what the hell is that supposed to mean? just sounds gross in all sorts of weird ways. especially since sticky glue usually dries, then ur just stuck like glue but yer not sticky anymore.

are there more songs on the record? .. if there are there is nothing memorable about them

there is nothing exciting on 20ten .. its just there and a little annoying too ... the songs are empty inside .. they seem to be about nothing .. like seinfeld exept not funny ...

20ten only would reaffirm for any non fan why they aren't interested in his music.

i would only play top notch prince if i wanted to turn on a new listener. 20ten does not qualify

Of course I wouldn't play THAT to any of my friends.

I wouldn't play Musicology, 3121, Planet Earth or Lotus/MPLS as well.

I have some pride left...

No question about it. Yes I would. Though they're not all music lovers so I would manipulate the list a little so they don't find it overpowering.
