2 new bandmembers back with Prince?

Funkenberry just revealed that John Blackwell and one other ex bandmember are back with Prince for the tour next month.

Since he had Cora & Josh before and they usually play as a duo being as they are a couple, it makes sense that the other former bandmember is the bass player.... so.... do you think Rhonda could be back on bass?

Thank God, John Blackwell is back. Since Rhonda is on tour with Jeff Beck it can't be her. If I had to venture a guest it would be Eric Leeds. The tour is a start, now Prince has to bring John and crew back into the studio.

- They were very good players, but I never loved their sound with Prince. It´s about time.

And back to perform in the States. Great googley moogley I wish it was Rhonda, though. I dig Eric, but dude looked a bit old towards the end of his last stint with Prince. What about Candy? Regardless, nothing against Cora personally, but as far as skills go I'm SO happy John is back.

Also, could be older band members, I guess... bass players? Hmmm...

It has to be someone that will compliment the "Minneapolis sound". Take a good listen to 20ten....that's his tour imo.

Prince will probably play anywhere from 0 to 1.5 songs from that CD, so it won't make any difference.

PRINCE Set To Funk Up Northern Europe

The one and only PRINCE we hear is set to perform in Norway October 18th and Northern Europe for 7 dates to be announced in total so far.

The greatest living performer alive (Eat your heart out Gaga) has been rehearsing for the shows at his Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis, Minnesota for almost a month.

No word yet what has been rehearsed but the Dr. is all ears..and if he can tell you. How cool would it be to see Prince rehearse? Jamming on the piano. The bass. The guitar. The keyboards. And for the 2nd song……

Well, we cannot tell you yet what is being rehearsed and I hope I am not going to get a few purple lashes for this but we hear that drummer extraordinaire John Blackwell is back with the Minneapolis genius along with….. I’ve said too much already but we will keep you posted!

When dates are set and confirmed, we will let you know.

Tell Elin to come, tigers!

Norway and Northern Europe are you ready to get FUNKY??-Dr.FB

Update:

The Norway show: Tickets will be 898 NOK – € 112,90 – $ 152.34
There is also an age restriction of 18 & over

^ That would make sense because he has all the Prince back catalogue samples at his disposal in his Open Labs keyboard rig...to bring in someone different and program the synths from scratch would take a while

If John Blackwell's back in the fold, I don't think Josh Dunham is gonna be the Bass Player since he and Cora are a package deal.

Rhonda's definitely the one that jumps in my head the most.

She and Blackwell are a great rhythm section. Usually, if Prince has one in the band, he has the other.

Sorta like how if Michael Bland is his drummer, Sonny's usually on Bass.

Having said that the fact that DRFunkenberry does want to reveal the name of the second member who is back in the band makes me think it will be a surprise to all of us. So no Rondha.

I know Tal never played with P on tour but could she be in the band? That would be amazing and since she has rehearsed all Prince albums this summer according to what Morris told me in Arras back in July... eek

Mr Hayes has been in the NPG since 1993, its hardly a "return" is it

Yeah, I'm glad to see the back of Cora and Josh too, there so boring! I'm sure there really nice people etc but watching paint dry is more interesting. And I hope they never return.

Yes he does and he mixes them up every now and then. but not all members always return, hes dropped some over the past decade. Candy is gone for good she will not return and for good reasons. Marva is gone I can't see her ever coming back either, also some of the horn section. It will be interest to see what happens with Renato but from the looks of it I think hes been replaced.

Tal Wilkenfeld? That would be cool. I like her.

But that's a new bandmember.

Still wondering who the other returning bandmember could be....
