20TEN: how much $$$ was Prince payed for this CD ?

THIS danish review on gaffa.dk (5 out of 6) claims that Prince was payed nothing for the 20TEN album, I don't believe this:

http://gaffa.dk/anmeldelse/41964

Does anyone know how much Prince was payed for 20TEN ?

Het Niewsblad,

Rolling Stone Germany,

Le Courrier International,

Daily Mirror

I simply don't believe Prince has made an album for FREE.....

sorry if the amount of $$$$ is common knowledge, but I guess it's a well kept secret??

NUNYA. lol

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The Purple Yoda - Free

Prince continues cultivation of his classic funky sound that consistently characterized by Linn-drum-beats, rock guitars and synths. Like he has done in the last album. He has become even more extreme in his hatred of established distributors of music. Now it's not only record companies over a comb, but also Internet-download business, which he can not be bothered. In return, he should not stress over piracy or being exploited. The album has been awaited for some time, given away with various print media. Lucky for the publishers of these and those who live in countries where you can buy them. Denmark are not amongst the lucky ones. As far as the notifier has been able to read, they have not even paid him anything for this completely ridiculous high promotional value. But it is nothing worse because it is free.Princes play happy music and bright talent rays still from each track. There are tracks on the disc, which is one of the best from his hand for a long time for example. Beginning Endlessly. A total of 10 new tracks inc. the secret track 77Laydown are all performed songs and offers a harmonious blend of rock and funky dance-friendly tracks and silky soft ballads with lots of atmosphere.Intentionally or not, but it seems as though Prince gives his fans exactly the sound that the teeth most, and he jumps seamlessly between its many different tried and celebrated sounds from previous albums. Everything is new and still recognizable. Fortunately, everything linked by The Purple Yoda unique musical talent. That he proclaims that the Internet is over, and all electronic gadgets such as computers is unhealthy and just fills our heads with unnecessary figures are worrying. Jehovah's Witness-fool, strategic business genius or just confused? The music fails at least something.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Some years ago a Danish newspaper wrote that Prince had AIDS.

I'm afraid Danish journalists are not exactly the best informed people in the world.

Prince wouldn't even spìt if he wasn't 'properly' paid for it. Period.

that's true unfortunately, not a newspaper though:

the danish tabloid magazine Se & Hør, 1994:

A doctor gives a diagnosis "Prince could have AIDS",

He makes the diagnosis only from looking at the picture, right.

This doctor wasn't right... completely false rumour, thankfully. eek

Well the deal with the Mail on Sunday was an upfront fee and percentage of sales. The mirror put the price up and sold over 300,000 copies extra so if it was a similar deal then I think he would have earned as least as much as the mail which was 400,000 of the english pounds

This doctor wasn't right... completely false rumour, thankfully. eek

Quick translation:

The text in the upper right corner of the article: "The pop genius looks like a living corpse" biggrin

Summary from the text with the blue background: doctor Münster thinks that Prince looks so thin and weak that he has to use his hands to support himself in the doorway. He then goes on to speculate about various illnesses like an eating disorder, heart tumor or AIDS.

Nice work there doctor wink

I'm from Sweden; Danish and Swedish are to a certain extent mutually intelligible. There's also a Swedish version of Se og Hør: Se & Hör.

Thanks thedance for posting the article!

Heresay and Conjecture ^^^^^^^^^^^^

It is also going to be the next release by Prince.

You people are [Name calling snip - luv4u] it's not even funny.

Clearly you know nothing about covermounts.

OF COURSE Prince was paid.

He had a contract with each individual territory publication which will have been dependent on a variety of factors - such as size of distribution.

In each contract he will have given them copyright - see copyright law.

He owns the copyright (as he does with anything bootlegged) and would have sold such rights as such with a contract.

Think of it like a photographer selling his photo's - there are various rights. 1st, 2nd, worldwide.

Honestly there is google and billions of web pages of information yet you cannot fathom out how Prince operates to make a profit.

As to how much I suggest you ask Prince. You can get him on Facebook if you know the name he is using.

ehhhh.....as i said above......he was PAID around 250,000 pounds for the mirror group newspapers in the uk to give the album out.....he does minimal promotion...gets a fat check and gets massive coverage with the album with 2,500,000 copies of the album included in the newspapers.....the newspapers hope to increase their circulation and make the money back in increased sales.......it seems they SOLD an extra 400,000 copies of the newspapers that day and with extra advertising and back sales of the newspaper which i think are still available...should make a profit on the deal so evryone is happy.....its quite clever when you think about it......i personally would still like a normal release with cd case and notes inside but eh ....i aint complaining too much... wink
