Mmmm hmmm I think a few of those are floating around... aren't they?

Magnificent is for sure. Is there an unreleased version? Prince and The Band and 12:01 have been played live a lot, at least. Pickle. Pretty sure I have tracks called The Divine and Utopia (although they could certainly be mislabeled). I'd have to go through the rest of them while looking at great piles of files at the same time to be sure about those. Since that doesn't really sound like fun it's probably not going to happen. lol But I definitely recognize other titles as things I may have.

There is a great deal of stuff in there that I KNOW I don't have and certainly hope to hear before I die. lol Prince's decision to not do another Crystal Ball set has always really disappointed me.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these titles were just the original titles of 'songs-in-progress' that were eventually finished and released, and that we might know a lot of them already under different names. I know I do that a lot when I record stuff - give a song a working title, and then a proper title when it's fully formed with all the lyrics done.

For example, I'm sure I read somewhere recently that "12 Keys" was the original version of "The Questions Of U" (or it was something else off Graffiti Bridge?... I can't remember lol), and some of the other titles sound suspiciously like songs we already know: "Colleen" = "Cloreen Bacon Skin", "3 Nigs Watchin' A Kung-Fu Movie" = "2 Nigs United 4 West Compton", "God Is Everywhere" = "God Is Alive" etc.

I'd also guess a lot of them were just jam sessions given a humorous title, but not really fully formed "songs". Plus I'm sure there would be some fakes or stuff recorded at Paisley Park that Prince had nothing to do with in the list that have slipped through the cracks.

Fascinating stuff nonetheless.

"Aguadilla" is on one of Eric Leeds' albums.

"A Man Called Jesus" is on Mavis Staples' The Voice.

These are all different songs.

12 Keys is from The Flesh sessions and only uses a portion of TQofU melody.

3 Nigs is from Sheila's projected 4th album, post-Black Album.

God Is Everywhere is from 1985 and was reportedly re-used as a basis for 'Everywhere' (from TRC).

Colleen doesn't ring any immediate bells (sounds pre-Purple Rain in name), but since Cloreen was just an off the cuff jam, I would doubt there's any connection.

---

Just scrolling past the list, it looks kinda short. Maybe I'm used to seeing it with all the circulating stuff listed too smile

Ahh so there it is, that's why I never had luck finding 3 nigs.......

Man this is one of the things that keeps my interest in Prince PULSATING!!

Heck I know there are a lot of debatable aspects about our boy these days, but back in the day when I used to search high and low on the net for concerts and general bootlegs, it was as though I was searching for the Ark of the covenant...

I'm just hoping that (touch wood), nothing happens to me before these things see the light of day

CROAK PRINCE CROAK!!! (Before anyone takes my beans off, that was a joke wink )

-- I would LOVE to hear this whole track (and fuck da press!) wow.

I'll go out on a limb and say that "Aguadilla" is probably the Eric Leeds track of the same name.

The Mayte 95 version of 'Latino Barbie Doll' is circulating. Sheila E's 1987 original isn't.

Same for 'A 1000 hugs $ kisses': we've all heard Nona's version but I couldn't track down Rosie Gaine's first incarnation of the track (one of my favourite outtakes).

As you probably know "Latino Barbie Doll" was originally recorded during sessions for a planned 4th Sheila E album. But the version that i have is the one recorded with Mayte for early sessions on her "Child Of The Sun" album. She also did a couple of Carmen Electra outtakes before work started proper on her own album.

Is the Sheila E version circulating?

The closest thing we got to 'Wednesday' is the piano rehearsal version commonly (mis)titled 'There's no telling what I might do'.

No it is not. However the poster was not clear on what version...because Mayte's version is...with Sheila's percission and background vocals intact...seems like he threw a different sounding new jack swing like drum track on it.

You can be my nappy headed pappy

And I will be your Latina barbie doll come to life

I never knew about those lyrics hmmmmm....probably part of the reason it wasnt released....however I do like the arrangement of the verses..especaially the first one...however it just kind of goes nowhere intresting.

You not missing much exept a short Sheila E. drum solo in the middle and Mayte say "bilal.." or something before it happens...however I'd listen to it if it was clean and crispy clear Sheila version.
