well, i just went over to computicket where they said we could book tickets, and see nothing yet, but Algoa FM in the Eastern Cape was really hyping this, this morning.

Cape Town, Durban and SunCity mentioned for shows; SunCity supposed to have 2 of them.

Just got off the phone with Algoa FM; they say they are 100% sure, even though tickets not yet listed at Computicket; tickets could be available in the next hour. The shows are also co-hosted by MNET, which is like a cable tv company in South Africa...will keep y'all up to date...but, South Africa would be a great place to see Prince for all adventurers!

y'all don't understand how excited I am...the last time I saw Prince live was in 1988 in Pittsburgh, when he sang:

"head, Pittsburgh, 1 word, head"

after all these years of listening 2 y'all post updates on concerts and thangs, and almost being there at the O2 sessions not to long ago,

this is like a true dream come true

i feel like a child on Xmas about to open a present

biggrin

now let's hope this really happens

Not that I want to rain on your parade, but I'm pretty sure this won't happen.

He's been cancelling or postponing gigs in other countries where he's much more known and sells more records.

If finally happens, I hope someone with a recording device makes it to the place.

I really hope things work out; this morning, as i prev stated, there was huge hype; dj's were excited and everything. plenty of prince songs being played. in addition to MNET, there was also one other major concert promoter involved. but again, what concerns me is the huge choice of venue in CT. greenpoint stadium was recently re-built for the world cap and is massive. i'm not sure how prince will go in selling that out. but there is indoor concert hall place that will do the job...his show just seems as if it would rock indoors.

Imo, it would be better if he played indoors, i have attended many outdoor shows and they are just shit. Prince played the one and only gig he has played in my home city outdoors, and while it is great to see him every time, the gig was average imo, due to being outdoors.

You are correct, he does rock indoors. As do indoor gigs in general.

There's no confirmation anywhere on that. The concert dates first appeared on computicket's website on Sunday, 10/10/10. I first saw that link posted on the org by orger "Dreamer2", This was the link below, where that info was, but apparently it was never confirmed by any source from the Prince camp or Drfunkenberry's site. That info later disappeared later in the day. Now you get an error message on that link. So I guess it's just a wait and see situation.

for you guys sake, i hope the songs the radio played are NOT indicative of what you'd get in a set list. for some reason i think he'd be more adventurous in Europe (maybe because he's been there so much) but more likely to give SA a "hits driven" set with 3-5 trax from 20Ten, but hey, i'm sure ppl who have never seen him will enjoy the show. wish i could come. Been to Kenya and Ethiopia, but I've yet to make it to SA.

I have a feeling South Africa has other things at the top of its prayer list. Guess it doesn't hurt to work from the bottom up and tackle the easy ones first.

No smoke without fire so I guess Prince is going to touch base with this wonderful country.

Nice to see him exploring the world further....and Lord knows, SA needs a break. Lots of music lovers there.

thanks for that...actually my 1st time to see this link.

will also keep my ears and eyes open on this side.

i have to say though, that i feel a bit guilty about having any doubt

of Prince being able to sell out Greenpoint Stadium earlier; even with

the O2 bizz, I thought "damn, is that not a bit ambition?" but

he pulled off successfully and with style.

with that being said, i really hope this happens...and i think it

might just be his first African performance if miracles are due

to happen.

just got off the phone with computicket again, after having spoken to them about 8 hours ago.

they acknowledged there was a link to his shows and that it was taken down. i asked, "is Prince

definitely coming?" I was told yes. The person who I spoke to said to keep checking the website

for the rest of the week, but it appears to be a mystery going on...as usual with Prince...

cool

Has anyone seen the size of that Stadium that he is supposed to b performing in on the other thread titled Prince Live in SA(South Africa)??? I have no idea how he is gonna fill that one out!! If he cancelled Croke Park in Dublin, cos it didnt sell out, and that stadium there wasnt even half the size of this one, how in the Hell is he gonna fill the stadium in South Africa out????shocked shocked

I bet if he plays there that they will come out to see a living legend perform some of his hits. Has Prince ever played on the continent before??? If not here is their opportunity to get a taste of the Purple Funk!!!

Wow, this would be awesome!!! Seeing Prince in South Africa would be amazing!!!!!!!!! I've never been to South Africa, but I bet if I had the chance to see Prince there, I'd be the first to book a ticket. I think he should definately play there, this will be groundbreaking for him and for the people of South Africa. Wonder when he will confirm the dates...and start selling tickets. He's got to realize that if he wants more people to come he's got to give some notice..

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I wasn't aware that he cancelled Croke Park because he didn't sell out....I thought it was because it was Prince being Prince....
