cringeworthy moments

Which was more embarrassing?

1. Prince's monosyllabic 'interview' with Dick Clark in '79 on Solid Gold

2. Prince's acceptance speech at the AMAs/grammies in 1985 with his bodyguards

3. Prince miming as Tora Tora with Mayte interpreting during an 'interview' on British tv

It's a shame because when he wants to Prince can be articulate, thought-provoking and witty so I don't know why he wants to come across as a highly pretentious, self-conscious petulant spoilt brat at times.

Without a doubt, the Tora Tora/Mayte mime.

I didn't find Dick Clark's i-view cringeworthy at all.

As much as I love "Under The Cherry Moon", the way Prince does his "Prince looks" in certain scenes (i.e. when he first spots Mary and seduces her with his eyes from across the room; when he takes her away from the airport while "Anotherloverholenyohead" is playing) it's very cringeworthy and embarrasing lol

American Bandstand 1980

and he gave a few full sentence answers. (well at least 2) one about he wanted to produce himself and about the upcoming tour. But IIRC he did not lie about not playing all the instruments on the 'Prince' album. But he may have fudged his age. That was still back when they were telling stories about his real age.

Well, more cringeworthy 'moments': Musicology, 3121, Planet Earth, Lotus/MPLS, 20Ten...

...and most probably the next album.

Cringeworthy but very funny, especially the looks he almost seemed to be poking fun at himself.

I agree with others. The Tora Tora interview makes me feel uncomfortable watching it years later. I couldn't imagine watching it the first time while it was still current and prior to Prince evolving into a well respected statesman of music.

Is that the one where he says he's 19 and previous labels wouldn't let him produce his own stuff cause i love that interview, it makes me laugh everytime and he looks cute. The interview with the British/German girl, i thought was quite embarrassing but it wasn't his fault.

People say 'if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all' but i say 'IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT ANYTHING TO SAY THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!'

too many to name, probably, as a fan, my most embarrassing hero. The MTV interview was a low point, he obviously had prepared answers and responses which seemed contrived and over the top egotistical. Also, I've never liked sycophants around my heroes, he had plenty in those days and for many to follow.Under the Cherry Moon wasn't all bad but his narcissism screwed it up, no one should have given him free reign for any of his movies outside of Sign O' The Times which was great. The time when he did the but humping thing on Arsenio Hall with that silly hairdo and wierd shaped beard. I could go on and on but what would be the point. We have to accept people as they are and he's a guy who'll never live in a real world with and real humility.

yeahthat I can't watch that movie with anyone but a true Prince fan, because it's embarrassing as hell. Heck I even get embarrassed watching it alone, which I haven't done in years. There are some cute parts, but the cringe sections are just too painful...
