Y'all trying to connect Prince to Taylor Swift by all means possible.

This is a REACH.

It's like when Mariah had The Emancipation of Mimi, every one thought she was referencing Prince; as if he created the word, or idea of owning masters or fighting with a record company, when Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder was doing it twenty years before.

Whether Prince created the word 'Emancipation' or not (I'm leaning toward NOT lol), he seemed to have had a profound relationship with Mariah (per her), so the album/album title could have been, at least partially, a nod to Prince.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clxdGNUJYnI

Even aside from her actual relationship with Prince, Mariah seems to have been heavily influenced by Prince as a much younger artist.

Similarly, it's certainly possible that a much-younger Taylor Swift/her writing collaborater have been influenced in some way by Prince and referenced a song of his, even if unknowingly. It's not like 'Days of Wild' is a commonly used term.

"The voices in his head called the rain to end OUR DAYS OF WILD." If that is indeed the phrase Taylor Swift says, there is a lot in the phrase that could point to Prince, even more than just the "Days of Wild" portion.

People should just ask her. Celebrities are more accessible than ever. Someone try shooting her a message on her socials then we can put this to rest.

No, that is not how it actually works. Someone made a claim, and then you refuted that claim. You said Prince didn't coin the phrase, which would leave anyone with sense to conclude that YOU know who did coin the phrase. Therefore, the onus is on YOU to provide the evidence that will show who said it first, before 1994. If you don't do that, then we simply have to conclude that Prince, in fact, did coin the phrase. The burden of proof has to come from you. All we have is that Prince debuted the term in 1994. The conclusion is that he came up with it. If you know something we don't then, again, the burden of proof has to come from you.

They have to prove the claim to begin with. It's like the argument of "God exists." Really? Then prove it. You believe it to be so, so show me the proof God exists.

Claim: THIS IS MY LAND!

Person: Prove it.

Claimer: (pulls out deed)

Science: We're 3 degrees from apes!

Person: Prove it.

Science: (pulls out DNA etc to show comparisons thereby proving the claim is true)

The fact that no one can substantiate the claim about "days of wild" really does close the case, though. Y'all fighting so hard for something made up, and after - what did they say? - a quick google that "it certainly seems Prince orginiated that exact particular phrase." Where's the proof?

I could say the sky is plaid. If you say it isn't, you'd say, "really? I don't see that. where's your proof?" Ergo, the burden would be on me to prove the sky is plaid.

You're using incorrect analogies, across the board. I won't addess the "Emancipation" nonsense you brought up, but let's stick with "Days of Wild." This isn't "sky is plaid" or "THIS IS MY LAND!" This is a term. "These are the Days of Wild." Very simple thing. Prince put it in a song. No one that we're aware of said it first. No one since has used it (that we're aware of). But as soon as Taylor Swift uses the term within a lyric on her song, instantly people want to link it to Prince.

Why is that? Could it be because Prince said it first?

Someone presents the link by starting this thread. A few posts down, you come in with...

Y'all really stretching on this shit. It's still 100% false. Prince didn't coin the phrase "Days of wild," for fuck's sake.

The fact that YOU can't substantiate any other person that has said it; in a song, a book, a cartoon, a television show, a movie...BEFORE 1994, means that Prince in fact did coin the term "Days of Wild." And until you can present proof to invalidate what at the moment is a fact, since you have nothing that refutes it, then it is what it is.

Again, until you present facts that tell us otherwise, Prince coined the term "Days of Wild."

We're done here...

...until you bring us the proof. As I said, the onus is on you.

Nope. I'm absolutely correct. The OP still hasn't shown where they have a foundation for their claim.

Okay. All we have to do to prove it to you is... read all of English literature for say the past 500 years? Let me get back to you. Oh wait. That's exactly what Google is for.

It's hardly a leap to believe someone else could come up with the same exact phrase, it's not some super nuanced or complex combination of diction there.

Try to find a "days of (adjective)" phrase. Not easy.

(Yes, wild can be a noun, but it's mostly an adjective. And as a noun it's usually the wild.)

The ‘internet’ says that the “…days of wild” bit in the song is referencing the Emily Dickinson poem, “Wild Nights - Wild Nights!”
There may or may not be something coming!

Nope, nope... You are absolutely and completely WRONG. The OP doesn't have to show jack shit. Again, "Days of Wild" is Prince. End of discussion. Prove us wrong. You can't, and until you can, as I've already said, this discussion is over. You're washed up. Destitute. Bereft of all legitimacy. Until you prove us otherwise, please...puh-leez just stfu.

Thanks, man.
